Botox® Injection – What To Expect
Botox injections are performed in our outpatient treatment center at Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD. We want you to feel as comfortable as possible during treatment. In some cases, the plastic surgeon may use an anesthetic cream to numb the treatment area.
The active ingredient in Botox is botulinum toxin. Small amounts are injected into specific areas along the forehead and brows to selectively weaken the muscles and smooth away wrinkles. Botox does not cause numbness, just relaxation. Gradually, the muscles will regain function. Results of Botox injection typically last up to three or four months.
After treatment, you may experience temporary bruising, swelling or soreness in the injection sites. These side effects typically last no more than one to two days.

He spends adequate time with each patient addressing each unique concern and makes a stressful experience a very pleasurable one. It is not always easy to converse about ones “defects”, yet he does so gracefully and with humility. Dr. Chappell is very amicable and went out of his way to welcome me and make me feel as though I was part of the team. I have met students with whom he has worked and my experience was echoed.
